HoloGroup became`Breakthrough of the year`at the `Time for Innovations Award`!

December 16, 2016, Sochi, Russia, HoloGroup became the laureate at the independent annual `Time for Innovations Award` in the `Breakthrough of the year` nomination.

Earlier that day Alex Yakubov, HoloGroup Founder and CEO,  had presented to the Award jury and participants from the Russian leading companies mixed reality technology opportunities and its application in various business cases.

Experts gave special attention and very positive reviews on HoloStudy educational project. The project is a series of holographic lessons on physics, chemistry, biology and geology developed for the Microsoft HoloLens. HoloStudy 3D lessons visualize the studied objects and phenomena with the colorful 3D-holograms projected in the space around the student. Several students can simultaneously manipulate holograms with the help of special gestures and voice commands. Such interaction transforms group lessons into exciting team work.

Award jury also highly evaluated new HoloGroup application for architecture design of retail centers. Mixed reality technology allows to replace plastic architecture models of buildings with a 3D holograms. That makes the whole process of building design much more comfortable, providing a great functionality for modeling and group work and saving a lot of time and raw materials. For instance, with a help of special voice command it is possible to make transparent roofs, walls, and any object of the model so that the same maquette can be used for general building planning and for more precise room planning. Another great function allows to walk through the real-size holographic building to work on room interior.

Overall expert jury shared the common vision of the potential of HoloGroup mixed reality applications to revolutionize the way of working with information in various industries from business to entertainment, science, education and culture.

`Time for Innovations Award` was initiated by `Social projects and programs fund` supported by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia. The main goal of the Award is to encourage development of projects and practices committed for accelerated commercialization of R&D innovations. Key criteria for projects rating were systemic approach and industry activity, business scale and effectiveness and the potential impact of the innovations on business and society.

Other laureates of this year include Russian big industry players such as Railway, ASUS, Mobile Telesystems (MTS) and others.

HoloGroup has launched a crowdfunding to support HoloStudy educational project!

December 8th, HoloGroup has launched a crowdfunding campaign to create holographic Mixed Reality lessons, HoloStudy, aimed to revolutionize the underlying principle of obtaining knowledge.

HoloStudy lessons visualize the studied objects and phenomena with the colorful 3D-holograms projected in the space around the student. Several students can simultaneously manipulate holograms with the help of special gestures and voice commands. Such interaction transforms group lessons into exciting team work.

At the moment, lessons on physics, chemistry, biology, and geology are planned to be released. Each subject will be covered in 8 topics.

Students will be able to see how the world was formed with their own eyes, travel to the center of the Earth, study its chemical and mineral composition, experience the biological diversity of Earth’s inhabitants, and develop an understanding of the laws of physics.  Teachers will have a unique tool for explaining phenomena and processes which are difficult to explain in a lecture.

Mark Griswold, a professor at Case Western Reserve University, stated, “HoloLens has the potential to revolutionize education by using 3D content in the real world”. Case Western is already using HoloLens in anatomy classes.

Alex Yakubov

“Mixed Reality literally allows for the real and digital worlds to be combined. Our team has been driven by the idea of moving education to a holographic 3D format since the first release of Microsoft Hololens in the spring of 2016. Since then we have already released a successful demo-version of HoloStudy, which was in the Top-10 apps for Hololens list according to Windows Report.  This is absolutely a revolutionary way to transfer information and collaborative work. It makes the process of learning clearer, more interactive, and more interesting; therefore, more effective. Our goal is to make the HoloStudy series free and accessible for every student. This is why we are launching our crowdfunding campaign. We are counting on your support and participation” explains Alex Yakubov, founder and CEO of HoloGroup.

The live version of HoloStudy will be available by September, 2017.

HoloGroup is an IT startup; its core focus is the development of apps for Mixed Reality glasses: Microsoft Hololens and Meta 2. Currently the startup has the largest team of developers, 3D designers, scientists and marketers specializing in Mixed Reality in the Russian Federation.  The company’s specialization is developing holographic apps for education and business (construction, automobile production, energy, retail, banking, and health care).

`Mixed reality technology soon will radically change the conventional marketing routines and become the key instrument for sales and business development`, believe HoloGroup founder and CEO Alex Yakubov. `HoloLens allow to present the product in a colorful, visual, interactive way. Headset also allows to focus attention on important details which are difficult to visualize using traditional tools. Customers can test different modifications of color, size and shape with holographic 3D models`.

The world leading companies have already implemented mixed reality technology in their marketing routines.

For instance, Volvo uses MR to demonstrate the new safety equipment and car engines.  Volvo clients can also try different car configurations such as color, car interior and wheels design by using HoloLens. Using special gestures and voice commands customers can explore customized 3D model from different angles and within various layers.

Lowe’s uses mixed reality technology in furniture sales. With a help of HoloLens customers can choose the color, material, shape of sofas, cupboards, tables etc. in a real-time mode. Simultaneously sales manager gets the map of customer views through iris scanning, that could be used for in future for personalized customer experience.

Mixed reality in construction: HoloGroup presented holographic solutions at the Autodesk Conference

HoloGroup participated at the biggest exhibition on construction, industrial design, animation and graphics Autodesk University Russia 2016. Construction companies tested HoloLens functionality by interacting with 3D holographic buildings, which could be rotated, zoomed and allowed virtual tour of each room. Mixed realty headset is a great tool for investors and construction managers to design buildings and monitor construction process progress.

Our construction holograms for HoloLens are now available for Autodesk BIM 360 users and can be downloaded from the personal account.

Our HoloStudy Geology and Chemistry app is now available at Microsoft Store!

HoloGroup has released the first educational app for Microsoft HoloLens to help students studying geology. The app is part of a series of educational holographic lessons called HoloStudy and aims to teach about our planet’s origin, structure, magnetic field, chemical composition and much more in a colorful, interactive and, most importantly, visual way.

As you can see in the demonstration of the geology app Microsoft HoloLens has the ability not only to “project” a virtual image, but also to tell a story by interacting with the user and obeying voice commands. This allows students to grasp the intricacies of scientific knowledge while controlling the pace of the lesson. It also gives teachers a unique tool for explaining complex phenomena and processes that are difficult to explain verbally. As a result, complex knowledge becomes easy-to-grasp, and student involvement increases, improving the quality of education. “HoloLens has potential to revolutionize education by bringing 3D content into the real world” says Professor Mark Griswold from Case Western University, where anatomy is already being taught using HoloLens.

We plan to complete a full suite of educational applications, called “HoloStudy”, in the next six months. Our team plans to release lessons on geology, physics, chemistry and biology. We are seeking opportunities to collaborate with educational institutions to introduce mixed reality applications to their education programs.

Stay with us and together we will change the way we learn!
